Patience and perseverance were qualities required by the 141 competing crews at the 2022 Rolex Giraglia. In face of the light winds which dominated the 69th edition of the race, significant emphasis was placed on teamwork and navigation. The Italian yacht Lisa R was confirmed as the overall winner of the offshore race while Magic Carpet Cubed claimed a dramatic line honours title. They were rewarded for their feats at the final prizegiving held at the Yacht Club Italiano in Genoa, Italy. All crews who finished the race displayed significant dedication and skill in maximising the limited breeze available. The 2022 Rolex Giraglia witnessed a return to the event’s full programme with a successful three-day inshore series in Saint-Tropez, France, ahead of the historic offshore race, first ran in 1953. The rounding of the Giraglia rock, the race’s undeniable symbol, again proved a significant highlight. The event has been partnered by Rolex since 1998 and is organized by the Yacht Club Italiano in collaboration with the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez and the Yacht Club Sanremo.
