Denim Jacket Fit Guide For Men

The Denim Jacket, an iconic and timeless piece that should be in everyman’s wardrobe due to it’s versatility, comfort, and style.

I consider the denim jacket as the go-to jacket because of how well it compliments any look. But before you run off to buy yourself one, make sure you check off each of the guidelines mentioned to find the perfect denim jacket. Let’s get started.

Now a Denim jacket should fit close to a shirt, somewhat of a snug fit but also be comfortable enough to be worn buttoned up. As with most clothing, you want to follow the universal guideline of having the right fit across the shoulders, where the end of the seam meets the end tip of your shoulders, as well as the sleeves ending right about your wrist bone.

Once you’ve checked that off, you want to pay attention extra close attention to where the denim jacket ends.

The denim jacket was designed to be worn shorter than most jackets aka a cropped fit and it should end right on your hips. Don’t worry if your buttons down shirts are longer than your denim jacket. This is how a denim jacket is supposed to fit.

Now you could get away by wearing a denim jacket that is slightly passed your hips but anything passed your crotch is too long! Put it back and try a smaller size Bonus tip: if you’re in between sizes, try searching for a denim jacket that has stretch material. By going this route, you could size down and get a very fitted jacket without compromising comfort.

Next: if this is your first denim jacket, I highly suggest you first go with a dark or light wash color. These classic colors go with about anything you wear and it just make pairing outfits simpler. As for where to purchase denim jackets, some of my favorite denim jackets are from levis, gap, and Hollister. It does not matter brand or how much the jackets cost, it’s all about the fit. Like the old saying goes, fit is king. But w’ere not living in the renaissance so I’m going to change this quote to fit over everything.
